Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare my body for a spray tan?

Wax or shave at least 24 hours prior. Exfoliate your skin thoroughly in the shower, focussing on the drier areas of your body.

We advise steering clear of oil-based scrubs as they can leave a film on your skin and create a barrier against the tan.

What do I need to do prior to my spray tan appointment?

Please ensure that there is no perfume, makeup, moisturiser or deodorant on your skin. This can create a barrier that could affect the outcome of your tan.

Also, wearing loose dark clothing will minimise the tan rubbing off after application. Any residue on your clothes should wash out.

Why can't you wear make-up, perfume, deodorant or moisturiser?

These products create a barrier that will prevent the spray tan from sticking to the skin.

These barriers can also make the spray tan appear green when sprayed due to a chemical reaction between the barrier and the tan solution.

Will the spray tan stain my clothes?

The bronzers contained in spray tan should wash out of your clothes in the machine.

It is recommended that you wear loose dark clothing to your spray tan appointment to minimise tan transfer.

How long does it take to have a spray tan?

Most technicians should take no longer than15mins to complete a spray.

How long does the spray tan take to develop?

Aussie Bombshell Sunless Spray Tan should be left on between 2.5 and 4 hours, depending on the intensity of the tan required.

We recommend that clients have a shower no earlier than 2.5 hours after being sprayed to ensure enough colour variation on the skin.

Once showered, the tan will take a further 24 hours to develop to its full intensity.

How long does a spray tan last?

Depending on individual skin type and how well the client looks after their tan beforehand and afterwards, most Aussie Bombshell Sunless Spray Tans last between 5-7 days.

However some of our happy clients have told us that their tan has lasted nearly two weeks.

How do I best look after my tan?

While your tan is developing, avoid water and anything that may cause perspiration. Your technician will advise you how long you need to leave the tan on before you shower.

After showering, use your towel to pat dry, and moisturise well. Avoid moisturiser with a mineral oil base, as this may affect your tan.

Aussie Bombshell's range of Skin Hydrators will not only hydrate the skin but it will extend the life of a spray tan as well as allowing for the most even natural fading process.

IMPORTANT

Remember, that everyone's skin tone will react differently to a spray tan. Aussie Bombshell is an express formula and should not be worn on the skin for any more than 4 hours.

Please be aware that excessive exercise, exposure to chlorine, your hormone levels and flying may affect the longevity of your tan. Our technicians are fully trained, so please ensure that you listen to their directions closely.

I look very dark after having a spray tan. Should I be concerned?

No. The initial colour sprayed on the skin, is a guide for the technician to see where they have sprayed onto the body. Most of this residue will wash off when you have a shower.

Aussie Bombshell contains minimal bronzer, so you shouldn't feel sticky or look dirty after the tan application.

Does sunless tanning protect you from the sun?

No, sunless spray tan does not protect against UV rays.

Sunscreen is still required when outdoors after having a spray tan.

Can I get a spray tan if I'm pregnant?

This is personal choice. DHA – the active ingredient in spray tan is sugar-based and non-toxic in nature and the spray tan itself does not absorb into the bloodstream.

It is recommended that you wear a mask and not have your face sprayed to reduce any inhalation of the product.

Like anything during your pregnancy, if you are unsure, please consult your specialist before considering a spray tan.
